The Reference Monoblock amplifiers are built as single channel amplifiers, with the left and right channels being housed independently. This design inherently ensures excellent stereo separation. The individual power supplies for each channel also provide great power reserves to help reproduce the dynamics of music. Monoblock amplifiers allow placement of the amplifiers close to the loudspeakers so that short speaker cables can be used. The amplifiers are designed to follow the input signal as faithfully as possible, and impart no character (that is, distortions) of their own. The design utilizes a completely symmetrical wideband circuit, which reduces distortions considerably. Each stage is highly linear, allowing the use of minimal feedback. The output stage uses special complementary MOSFET devices. These are specifically made for audio, are inherently more stable, and have a superior response as compared to other devices. An aspect which is often neglected is the design of the power supply. The power supply interacts very strongly with the signal carrying circuitry of the amplifier. The capability of the power supply shapes the subjective nature of the reproduction of music - the transparency, or the ability to listen through into the music; the rhythmic drive; and dynamics. In the Reference Monoblock, a separate tightly regulated supply feeds the input stage. Another high current, low impedance supply feeds the output stage. The Integre integrated amplifier combines the signal controls and the power amplification circuitry in a single unit. This allows considerable cost savings. Though the Integre is rated at a lower power output, its power supply is extensive, and this rating is conservative. It will drive loudspeakers easily to loud levels without distortion. The selection and quality of the components used in the Integre is identical to that in the more expensive separate components. The only compromises are in the size of the power supply, and the rating of the output power MOSFETs used. The selection and control of signal sources is passive; for line level sources only (CD players, tape decks). This means that no active amplification circuitry is used in the preamplifier section - the signal goes directly to the amplifier. Four line level sources can be selected. If a phono input is required, a customised version can be provided. This requires the installation of a special phono circuit board, in place of one of the line level sources. The Intregre is uncompromised in the quality of sound reproduction, and offers an accurate, and musical presentation, at a lower cost.
